About us

The John Cummins Memorial Fund was established to honour the legacy of John Cummins who died in August 2006 as the result of a brain tumour.  The JCMF was initiated by John’s family, friends and comrades and receives generous support from the Construction & General division, Victorian Branch, CFMEU.

Our aims:

To raise funds to support:

  • the wellbeing of cancer patients diagnosed with a brain tumour

  • social inclusion of young people experiencing financial disadvantage through funding our Dare to Dream scholarship program and targeted team sporting activities.

Our Fundraising

Our fundraising is critical to the ongoing work of the JCMF.  We have two key fundraising activities.

Annual Raffle

Our annual raffle receives wide support from trade unions, workplaces and construction sites.

Our friends and supporters donate our raffle prizes each year.

Annual Dinner

Our annual is held on the last Friday of August each year at Monee Valley race course.  It’s in its seventh year, over 800 guests enjoy the event each year.

Governance

The JCMF is affiliated with the Australian Communities Foundation.  The ACF facilitates philanthropy to build healthy and resilient communities and positive social change.
